The government has provided funding jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport; the money is given directly to schools to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE. The money can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools. Please follow the link to the Department for Education to find out more about this funding.
Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of the PE and sport they offer however; they have some freedom to choose how they do this. There are key indicators that we monitor improvement across specifically:
Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
Increased participation in competitive sport
At Honeywell Junior School we are committed to promoting the importance of good health and well-being for all our children. We recognise the important role that Physical Education (P.E.) plays and the positive influence that is has on concentration, attitude and academic achievement of pupils. It is our aim that all pupils who leave us at the end of Year 6, do so with the habit of playing and enjoying sports and, the skills and the motivation, confidence and discipline necessary to equip them for a healthy lifestyle.
